Career Pivots and Puberty

Puberty – this is best way I can describe what it feels like to pivot in your career!

I retired from professional sport 2 years ago. I was lucky enough to retire on my terms, still in love with my sport and with no regrets. Even so, it was hard.

It’s really nice to feel like you are good at something. But if you ever want to try something new, you have to let that go. You have to be willing to make mistakes, to be vulnerable and to live at the edges of your comfort zone.

Enter broadcasting. No one starts as a finished product and you have be okay with learning and making mistakes in front of a large audience.

People will see the awkwardness, the “spots”, the self consciousness as you find your way. And you will discover the world is full of awesome people who want to help you.

Never be afraid to be a beginner!
