We won for our Olympic coverage!!! Plus a few notes on confidence

talkSPORT won at the Sports Journalist Association Awards for their live audio coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics!

I couldn’t believe it when I got the call asking if I wanted to host the daytime portion of talkSPORT’s Olympic coverage. I love radio and I love the Olympics! What a dream spending 4 hours a day presenting live in the Stade de France, sustaining myself with fresh croissants and working with a very wonderful team!

I was so nervous that first day. I’d never presented a radio show and I was about to anchor the Athletics coverage of the biggest sporting event on the planet. One of the best things elite sport taught me is that you can show up to a race nervous, and still kick ass!

I competed for 18 years, and the nerves never went away. What changed with experience was my relationship with them.

They weren’t a sign that I wasn’t ready.

They were a sign that I was about to do something big and important to me.

That my body was readying me to be my best.

And that I’d been brave enough to say yes!

Sadly, I had to celebrate the "We won" text by myself with a thumbs up on the train 😩. One of the downfalls of not living in London is that I always have to leave events early to catch the last train home. The winner was announced after I left, but at least my squeal of excitement made those in the train smile too!
